Advice on the Farm

Caroline Crew

of all the things that are lesser
               these tunes are thinning most

hello small sleeping animals
how did you get entwined in my knees?

when I left them my legs I thought they’d wander
to the banks of some river like every river

are you here to teach me? what is so difficult
to tell me is it the miracle hidden outside?

               the breaths say

                         be in the world

                                   or be against it
